Mahjong is a tile-based game that originated in China and was bought to America in the 1920s. The goal is to build sets (like matching or consecutive tiles) and be the first to complete a winning hand.
Mahjong Queens teach American Mahjong based off rules created and standardized through the National Mahjong League (NMJL). Although we only teach American Mahj, there are a lot of variations, each with slightly different rules and scoring.
Anyone can play Mahjong! The love of the game can stretch across ages, stages, and schedules. Don't be intimidated! We go slow and make sure you get every step with the goal that you can leave and play confidently independently.

We are very committed to our 4:1 Teacher to Student ratio so we will never teach a 101 class without that in place. That being said - we teach in segments of 4, with the smallest class size of 8. Based on skill level and your interest we can adjust! Email us and we'd love to work with you.
The queens have various sets that we play with at home but we solely teach on Oh My Mahjong sets. We love how beautiful and straightforward the tiles are - but you should find a tile set that suits you!
